Our Mission

Friendship Helping Ministries (FHM) believes that each
person is made in the image of God and therefore deserves a friendship
or mentorship relationship that accentuates their strengths and
potentialities for holistic development as a spiritual, physical,
social, psychological, and vocational being.
Conversely, however, we at FHM realize that there are many youth and
adults ages 12-up of various backgrounds who are not obtaining a
meaningful opportunity to actualize their holistic development as
spiritual, physical, social, psychological, and vocational beings. Much
of this lack of actualization is primarily due to a number of complex
realities and factors affecting their lives that have left them isolated
and/or displaced from the mainstream social and/or economic life.
At FHM, we believe that a sense of aloneness may move one toward
self-destructive tendencies, and certainly, its perennial existence
perceived or real - can serve to endanger one's spiritual, physical,
social, psychological, and vocational health. However, we believe that
helping to restore hope and meaning to isolated and/or troubled lives
can be cultivated and realized through committed friendships and/or
mentorship relationships. Through such shepherding relationships, FHM
believes troubled and/or isolated youth and adults can obtain a sense of
hope through refuge; a refuge found in compassionate associations such
as those with a committed friend, social worker, tutor, or mentor. We
also believe that such committed friendships can help an isolated and/or
needy individual experience resurrection in those particular areas of
their lives where they may have begun to lose the battle toward optimum
health. |
